Wild Horse Herd Counts and BLM and Non-Profit Corruption

Bait trapped horse
“One of the penalties of an ecological education is that one lives alone in a world of wounds. Much of the damage inflicted on land is quite invisible to laymen. An ecologist must either harden his shell and make believe that the consequences of science are none of his business, or he must be the doctor who sees the marks of death in a community that believes itself well and does not want to be told otherwise.”   ― Aldo Leopold, A Sand County Almanac

Here is a quick example of a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wild Horse Herd Count. Ironically, many non-profits and individuals today arrogantly acknowledge this misinformation to be in error, then in an arrogant methodology assume it to be okay and actually profit from the misinformation.

Yes, the exploitation of America’s Wild Horses for money, very prevalent. Corruption at its worst and becoming far worse, and involves not only a lack of Humane Principle’s, but assumptions built on a false premise in total.

Many support BLM’s erroneous statistics and numbers for several reasons. Currently we see these numbers provide excuses for low-brow and disgusting experimental birth-control situations on the wild horses and other wildlife as well — the use of Pesticides called PZP, among others.

Yes, due to lack of appropriate scientific information in the matters of the EPA Registered Pesticide PZP, for example, and still obtained by the BLM Voucher and Contract Process (i.e. even though non-qualified to do so within the legal and government policy and regulatory situations), non-scientific and cumbersome experimentation on America’s Wild Horses on our Public Lands remains ongoing – and then to roundup and slaughter.

This is mentioned because the entire program, costing taxpayers billions of dollars yearly, and the false premise it is based upon, can be discontinued easily – but is not and remains corrupt in total. No one really knows how extreme it is, nor the total cost, as it is a non-transparent government agency, with no oversight. So for your understanding, the following . . .

But for easy explanation, let’s start here with 500 Wild Horses and do a quick 20% increase yearly (per BLM assumptive numbers) the BLM way – basically the very ignorant way, or is it for other reasons?

BLM 20% Increase Yearly (no mortality / fatality of Wild Horses ever considered) of example starting with 500 Wild Horses (numbers rounded off to closest decimal)

(Note: BLM Assumptive 6-month old foal, and often less, is considered an Adult Horse for Counts, and often fatality occurs within their 1st year of life up to year 3 of their life . . . neglected also is actual adult fatality in Nature as well, and human contact fatalities also not assumed in BLM numbers)

The following is a ten-year time span:

  • 500
  • 600
  • 720
  • 864
  • 1036
  • 1243
  • 1492
  • 1798
  • 2157
  • 2608

Next we use the BLM 20% Increase Yearly “With” 30% Mortality / Fatality Rates, and as should be done within a truthful aspect of yearly counts (the 30% considered low by many) This would also be without human involvement, roundups, or horses to slaughter — big difference between 2,608 wild horses yearly and as the BLM would like us to believe . . .

The following is a ten-year time span:

  • 500
  • 420
  • 353
  • 247
  • 166
  • 93
  • 52
  • 29
  • 17
  • 10

Why is this important? Because we see the fatalities’ rates, (although very low here and in accord with many Wild Horse observers and those in the field to include myself) and many of us see the fatalities from wildlife attacks, or from a birth gone bad, or from the helicopter and trap site roundups as well.

The 30% fatality figure, even though a LOW percentage, is definitively in accord with Reality and the Truth.

How can we reference these numbers? Well, these numbers are merely examples, but the reality is quite telling. We can go directly to the AML’s. When we do the math we can see the AML’s used to coverup the years of the bogus BLM 20% increase of Wild Horses Yearly – and at the same time we can see the liquidation of the Wild Horses in Long-Term-Holding that disappear from the Inventory Sheets. Consistencies do exist in dates and times of disappearance in accord with many of the roundups. But no one checks the holding corrals for accuracy, other than visuals at times, by many of us.blm-sucks

What is the conclusion here?

The fact is my numbers here simply do not lie, nor are involved in political nor special interest circumstances. We are finding an extremely large taxpayer rip-off within the BLM, their arrangement with welfare ranchers and subsidies being corrupt in total, as well as BLM employees involved directly in fraudulent as well as extreme organized corruption — budgets accomplished by falsified information is Fraud . . . yet ignored in this government agency!  Why?

Ironically, this criminal operation is all under the guise of the supposed process of liquidation of Wild Horses from our Public Lands, and under the pretense of being needed! This is untrue and facts, good science and honesty show above all else, there exists no need to roundup Wild Horses what so ever – as their birth rates, by this same example, show much lower than what the BLM or DOI tell us. And yet . . .

When left alone, even though the numbers above an example, show beyond doubt the truthful birth rates of Wild Horses on Public lands. When all is considered, the Wild Horses should simply be left alone.

Time spent regulating fewer cattle on Public Lands, at a much lower ratio of cattle per acre situation, and within true oversight and management of our Public Lands Ecological Health, should become a priority and replace roundups and wild horses held captive in BLM corrals.

Right now, as oddly as it sounds, the truth is the BLM and DOI’s (Department of the Interior) priorities are based on falsehood, false premise, and outright lies, a broken wildlife and environmental management system that needs fixed badly. Mostly need of repair is the fact of both government agencies choose to ignore good science, and replace it with politically motivate science, or false science with manipulated data or significant data left out of the technical research entirely —

This would also assume a much lower BLM yearly budget, as well as affirm regulatory accountability and transparency achieved much better than exists currently. It has become quite obvious that the BLM and its subordinate situations should become more transparent to the American taxpayers as well as regulatory situations and Oversight Committees monitoring their behaviors.

Conclusively, we find that neither the circumstance exists of Wild Horses damaging America’s Public Lands, nor do we find the birth rates to be extreme, as the BLM and other government agencies and for profit non-profit organizations would like us to believe. Even the numbers show us that, and exemplify the reality of the Bureau of Land Management employees to be corrupt in total —

Is the Bureau of Land Management Legitimate or Simply Corrupt?

blm stop
“It strikes me as odd, that such a totally corrupt government agency as the BLM, can still operate within a system that has access to so much information — unless, of course, our Checks-n-Balance System of Laws in America no longer seem to apply or exist, and to actually protect American’s as well as our tax dollars from such corrupt agencies.”

Is the (BLM) Bureau of Land Management a viable and honest government agency?

NO, and here is why:

  1. Elements of law were designed to keep ranchers from overseeing Public Lands in America, in order to preserve the land along with our wildlife and environment – then ranchers began to infiltrate and take over the BLM, and now we understand in total why law was developed to keep them from making significant management decisions in the grazing situations of our Public Lands – It is currently a Corrupt Government Agency, and does not abide by the law nor does it benefit our Public Lands Management for Best Ecological System Management – total conflicts, within integrity, law, and our environment being destroyed does exist;
  2. The level of incompetence within BLM has reached tremendous proportions, and land management is centered around corruption in total, especially subsidies to ranchers in the millions if not billions of dollars, costing taxpayers a lot of money with no return;
  3. BLM ignore good science, and seen within the destruction of Public Lands quite readily today – they also assimilate and speak a lot about insignificant items, like over-population of wild horses – but obviously to direct attention from the actual destroyer of our Public Lands, overabundance of Cattle;
  4. Today we also see many government contractors, dishonest at best, and have also infiltrated the BLM, and these situations have also come under the guise of BLM Corruption – for example experimentation and use of birth control on Wild Horses and based on a false premise of overpopulation of wild horses when over abundant and over-population of cattle, in reality, destroy America’s Public lands;
  5. Then we go to the total-corruption aspect of BLM and Private Government Contractors in the aspect of sending wild horses to slaughter – yes, the money aspect of both sending wild horses to slaughter as well as experimentation and giving a pesticide to wild horses for birth control – which both have become a Cottage Industry within the BLM, and in direct conflict with many laws and policy situations within government to stop such activity – but all laws and policy ignored in total;
  6. Then we go to the situations of missing and inappropriate paperwork, inappropriate Voucher Process situations for payments to ranchers and Private Government Contractors, and the constant abuse and even neglect of captured wildlife and wild horses by BLM, and we have a very significant situation of a non-functional and quite costly government agency, that apparently has no limitations within law, no premise toward consistent or proper management what so ever, and their hiring aptitude for qualified people simply does not exist;
  7. The fact is this — all the laws that have been originated to not have ranchers manage our Public Lands ignored (due to conflict of interest and abundant potential misuse of tax payer money the premise to laws not allowing ranchers or Big AG to take part within management of America’s Public Lands), and currently the BLM and many of the Commissions and Boards that deduct a decision making process, is a mere superficial landscape that covers up corruption in total, as ranchers have infiltrated all aspects of our Public Lands, and Conflicts of Interest, and corruption, have become insurmountable — Laws ignored — and destruction on America’s Public Lands very abundant!  Frankly, as well, States running this same land situation would even be more corrupt and more destruction would prevail . . .

So the answer to above with just these situations, where many more of incompetence and certainly corrupt and questionable behavior does exist, we who peruse and study this government agency can say beyond a doubt – this agency should be discontinued.  What should develop, but more than likely it will not, all personnel within BLM be scrutinized vigorously for not only qualifications to uphold their jobs, but honesty and integrity as well.

It is Public Lands, both geologically and inspirational, and what ties all of America together — from the Western Seaboard to the Eastern Oceanic Shores.  And this is a truth that needs to be strengthened, and laws provided to protect from not only invasive government agencies and special interest groups, but invasive commercial aspects as well.

Frankly, we see very few employees, currently, that would qualify to work within a government agency, as it is so Corrupt right now, that one has to constantly wonder how it still operates – but in reality it is non-operational and only a ghost, if you will, of a government agency – primarily shrouded by questionable behavior and total corruption at many levels – certainly a blight to the tax paying pubic, which America deserves much better than what the BLM provides for our tax payer dollars.  — John Cox, The Cascades

Human’s – Wild Horses – and a Truth; The Wild Horse

babe winter 2016

A horse loves freedom, and the weariest old work horse will roll on the ground or break into a lumbering gallop when he is turned loose into the open.

“We as humans have always had an Illusory Superior attitude toward animals. Perhaps due to our weaponry more devastating, or much of the Wild Horses, for this example, are not in tune with what we, as a separate species, can reconcile about their actions. Their Balance with Nature is and remains very much contrary to our precisely Lack of Balance with Nature.

We, oddly, see them as in-need of our support for their very life; and, we automatically assume this non-reality idea also includes our ability to take their life whenever we want – our assumption of being superior to them and all.

Well, reality at the Door of Perception knocks, and the human species is again in Opposition with Nature; whether our arrogantly placed ignorance is definable within our individual mind-set or not – going quite beyond the Doors of Perception and directly into reality – we have become in direct opposition, in total, with nature, and too ignorantly-arrogant to admit it as a society.

We assume the wild horses should simply be with us – ironically, in our mind set and so we think, these wild horses want to become domesticated because they know we will save them. Yes, I know, what I am saying quite obvious up to this point, and how ludicrous our mind-sets have become, within the context of superiority and its very illusory elements, and the superiority is built on nothing more than subjective reasoning, ego, narcissism, or complete rejection of Nature and our environment being superior to us. Oddly, we do not acknowledge, as a society, that without Nature and a healthy environment – cohabitation – we simply will not survive as a species on this planet.

The Reality? Wild Horses are born into this world without humans – and their percentages, per capita, of survival are far greater than our percentages upon birth in our world – even with all of our apparent technology.1012045_562101927179838_310090421_n

Their Balance with Nature and this earth much superior to ours. But these Wild Horses also come from a long line of “humanless” ancestors – and a void was developed, actually no humans at all within their universal landscape, and from long ago. Not only did they survive well, but quite prosperous and lived good live-spans, healthy, and without any of the problems we, as a human species, confront daily . . .

The truth of this reality is the fact they do not need humans; in truth, no wildlife does; nor, have they ever needed humans for their survival. So the need for them to come to us, for survival, has never, ever been any part of their life – compared to the attempts to avoid us most often – or simply go about their life in the wilderness without even thinking of humans at all.” — John Cox, In The Cascades

Neil Kronze, Director of BLM, has recently given a small monolog in the matters of the Wild Horses on Public Lands. He gave it to the Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies House Committee on Appropriations, which the information he gave, was simply misinformation. This is the type of thing America is not built upon, and the BLM, and their Director, should be replaced.

Not only is it quite costly, but the situation will, and has, led to further environmental damages that all of America will face sooner than later – and pay far more in taxpayer money than would be paid if the Director in this case simply told the truth, as well as directed the BLM within a truthful framework, and within ethics and integrity. He chooses not to do this; although, taxpayers inevitably will pay far more for this situation than we should. Here his statements in partials, to this Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives:

“One of the BLM’s most challenging responsibilities is management of the Wild Horse and Burro program. These animals have an incredible reproductive rate — nearly 20 percent herd growth every year — and virtually no natural predators. . . Because of the extraordinary growth rate of wild horse and burro herds, as well as the dramatic reduction in adoption rates, the BLM is now managing more than twice as many horses on the western rangelands as is recommended for a healthy balance between horses, wildlife, cattle and other resources. . . While contraceptive birth control methods currently in use can be improved upon, given the severity of the current situation, BLM is committed to taking more aggressive action to expand their use, as well as the application of spay and neuter treatments. Much of this direct action will begin in 2016, and will continue to be supported by the agency’s on-going general research efforts to improve the available tools for population control.” — Neil Kornze, BLM Director

  • A Short Inner View in response to these issues:

John: Jim, you’ve seen what Neil Kronze had to say about the Wild Horse Herd population, and the rest?

James Howard (Freighter Pilot): Yes, I have. I fly over the 11 Western States constantly, and done so for 18 years now. The overwhelming amount of cattle, as always, is mind-boggling. It is pretty obvious, in both numbers and land-destruction, that cattle are in truth way over-populated on our Public Lands – and I am just a pilot and see it. And when compared to the Wild Horse population, which in my mind is 1 horse for every 2,000 or so cattle – Kronze, at the BLM and his cronies, are liars; also anyone else that would repeat such a travesty of the truth. The over-population of horses a myth, and simply untrue. Anyone can do a flyover – it is open-lands for it mostly. I strongly suggest people go out and look for themselves – see what we see!

John: Stan, you have also seen the statements from the Director of the BLM, and do a slightly different route over the 11 Western as Jim. Anything to add?

Stan Denning (Freighter Pilot): Yip, I fly the 11 Western, and most of it desert and over Public Lands. I have seen some of God’s best work while being a pilot for Jim’s company for 12 years, and proudly on American Owned Lands, fought and paid for by us, the taxpayers and American’s alike. I have seen also what people and our government do to these lands of ours. Cattle I see for miles on end – actually rare to see wild horses at all, so when I do it does catch my attention – and as I say, it’s rare to see them at all. Where I won’t call a man a liar, unless I am looking him in his eyes, I will state that I would like to speak with Mr. Kronze, and call him such, and point out to him several reasons why.

The end result I would leave him with, undoubtable, is the fact it defies reasoning what so ever that wild horses are the problem on Public Lands – obviously, to many including myself, it is nothing more than way too many cattle –

John: Hi Kent. Good talking to you again. You just heard Jim’s and Stan’s statements. Anything to add?

Kent Styles (Terrestrial Biologist): There is no doubt in my mind, the wild horses take the brunt of what cattle and sheep do – I am thinking the same as both Jim and Stan, Call these people out! I agree with their ratios, about 2,000 cattle to every 1 wild horse . . .

But it’s not just the problem of the cattle population, which is the over-population source in real-time, it’s the outright destruction of Public Lands – and this key point is the reasoning for the lies and so much misinformation. The cattle become a negative resource and it’s attritional effects well noted when good science and appropriate data gathered, without political agendas and no ordered manipulations from Directors or Administrators.

Cheatgrass for example – It’s not that cheatgrass follows fires, that is misinformation that the BLM and ranchers push to the public; rather, cheatgrass follows the destruction due to livestock grazing – directly — which contributes to the flammability of grasslands and results in more frequent wildfires. But, remember also that Wildfires are natural to native grasslands—although, not at the frequency created by cheatgrass–

John: So is the environment healthy, or not?BN-DN343_PBBALE_J_20140702163117

Kent Styles:  Good question. There’s a lot of studies that do take adversarial positions to many of the special-interest only studies done by BLM, where cattle grazing data not included — by the way, BLM demanded a few years ago for Rangeland Data concerning cattle to be Not-Included within any studies they contract or do internally. In opposition, and answering the question about the honesty of BLM employees and their Director quite well — honest science, which the BLM obviously does not like at all, tells us cattle generates many problems. Yes, they are and remain consistent in their dishonesty – Lord only knows why, as they pretty much have no credibility what so ever, and it is apparent they really don’t care.

Now to answer your question — healthy grassland easily recovers after fires – yes, but no in this circumstance of cattle grazing. It is only grasslands that have been degraded by livestock grazing that are vulnerable to significant cheatgrass invasion due to many things, but a large part contributed by the trample-effect of the ungulates, or in this case the cattle themselves . . . and their over-population.

So to say the wild horses trample-effects cause destruction of our Public Lands? This is simply an Untruth, and cannot be backed by legitimate science or data collection on our Rangelands today . . .

As a matter of fact, many of us have been challenging them to do so, but they refuse – necessarily so, because they would simply not obtain either the over-population of wild horses on Public Lands, nor would they retrieve data with anything but cattle and sheep destruction of our Public Lands consistent and undeniable upon perusal of that same data. . . So, the best “preventative” management, to stop wildfires on Public Lands if the BLM really assumes it is a problem here, would be to eliminate the major cause of cheatgrass spread and establishment in the first place. And that source is cattle production, not breed control for the wild horses, or eventually their removal –

John: If I am hearing you correctly, there is much more to this than just the over-population lies, but actually a cover-up of sorts?

Kent Styles: Cover up? An understatement for sure. The overwhelming fact is that biological crusts are extremely vulnerable to trampling and damage from hooves, but even more specific, cattle hooves. In most of the sagebrush steppe ecosystem, in the Great Basin for example, that includes Nevada, eastern Oregon, southern Idaho, and much of Utah, there were almost no large herds of grazing ungulates — like bison; and, even other parts of the sagebrush steppe that includes southwest Montana, parts of western Wyoming and Colorado, were on the fringe of the bison belt which was located to the east on the Great Plains.

So these ecosystems are really not tolerant at all, of especially cattle grazing. When cattle are let loose on these lands, they destroy the bio-crusts, which is significant because it provides the perfect disturbed soil conditions favorable for cheatgrass establishment – but the land pretty much destroyed for any other use, other than to grow cheatgrass.

Then we can dwell into the direct effects, and destruction of the Ecological System, and the Sage Grouse as well, and other wildlife – cattle and cheatgrass attract Ravens for example, and Ravens kill Sage Grouse – one can say without a doubt, Cattle and Not Horses simply destroy Rangelands and Sage Grouse alike . . .3032446-poster-p-shutterstock191258909

So do wild horses disturb the Ecological System? Easily answered – None what so ever! Oddly, if there was an over-population of wild horses, the cattle and sheep would trample any evidence of that what so ever, as they are ungulates far more destructive than any of the others, to include wild horses – then we can discuss Browsers as well, but for another time and discussion . . .

John: Let’s wrap this up – what can be done?

Kent Styles: Legislator’s should demand the government agencies tell the truth. Perhaps a law or two, but they need more honest folks in the BLM and even the DOI. Their dishonesty is destroying our Public Lands, and they have a firm-hold on the devil’s own. Cattle ranchers could care less about America’s Public Lands, and actually see it as their own through the grazing permits they hold– to use and destroy as they wish, and whenever they want to do so! I agree with John, it is time for American’s to Stand Up and Be Counted.

Thank you gentlemen, and I will see you at the next Alumnus gathering of our Vietnam Veteran Unit in May. But I do want to make a final statement:

Mr. Kronze mentions no predators on Public Lands any longer, and another reason for wild horse herd roundups – but that is simply not true either – so he is batting 100% on Untruth and WITHIN A TOTAL misinformation context — FOR A BUDGET, PAID FOR BY TAXPAYER MONEY!

True, in some areas there are not Apex Predators; but untrue that all Public Lands has no Apex Predators. We find, and in accord with BLM Math, it apparently makes no difference (and Mr. Kronze seems to allude to the fact it does, it would or may exist in their math – but it never has before), as they rate a 20% birth rate yearly (and for decades now — also shown over that time to be in error as well), as if there exists no mortality what so ever, no death rates, whether it be natural, human-caused, or at birth – so we find further fault within the 20% BLM Wild Horse Math Rate configuration and their software.  We, indeed discovered some time back, the software templates remains easily manipulated to boost percentages in particular areas where increases needed, as well as adjust percentages and counts to come out with just about anything they want during their counts, which we can truthfully state as fact!

When all of these figures and manipulations of Horse Count Software Templates considered — it is Erroneous, has been erroneous for quite some time, and we see no change in the erroneous counts or the continuous BLM Corrupt and Dishonest Behavior – they tell outrageous and outright lies to the Public as well as legislators, just as the Director has done above. . . America, we have a problem with a complete Dishonest and Corrupt government Agency.
